Vocabulary For Ecumenopolis is a video essay that proposes a new set of urban lexicon based on the idea that has been underlying our practice since its foundation: the  concept of Ecumenopolis.

We identified a set of urban phenomena that we find is unique of this new global city: situations and contexts that can be transposed to other settings, such as real estate bubbles, empty commercial properties, and privately owned public spaces among others. By naming and identifying these processes, we aimed to bring attention to territorial strategies that take place in multiple sites worldwide.

The territories that we used to illustrate the set of the new definitions describing Ecumenopolis are based on a series of on-site encounters and on the knowledge accumulated during our field research in Lebanon, Serbia, Russia, and Spain.
